We couldn't have asked for a better day to hold our 7th annual golf outing benefitting Sarah's Friends and the programs available to assist survivors of crime in Williams County. This year's event was held on Saturday, August 5th at Suburban Golf Course in Bryan, and yielded the highest number of teams in Sarah's Friends' history of this event.
This year's event brought us 19 teams: one more than last year which was our prior personal record. Teams were greeted at registration with coolers donated by Amerimade Realty full of products donated by The Ability Center, Farmers & Merchants State Bank, ElliAnn's Boutique & Mad Ox Men's Emporium, Ingersoll Rand-ARO, Susan Hale from ReMax Realty of Defiance, and Culligan Water. Participant t-shirts were created and provided by JB3 Custom Apparel. A quick breakfast of donut holes provided by Chief Supermarkets was a perfect addition fitting to our golf outing.
On course activities included men and women closest to the pin contests, men, senior men, and women longest drive contests, a driving advantage ball canon, and a putting contest. Thank you to Miller Bros, WBNO and anonymous donors for providing the prizes for all of our events, and to Jim Funderburg for providing the unique fun of the ball canon.
50/50 raffle and silent auction items were also available for all participants and together brought in over $1,135.00 for Sarah's Friends' programming. Thank you to our silent auction donors: Wal-Mart, WBNO, & anonymous donors as well as our generous winners for their contributions.
Following the scramble, players were provided a full lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, potato and pasta salads, cookies and bottled waters from Dinner by Design. Award ceremony was kept short and sweet following lunch. A large congratulations for the winning team, and winners of the $500 prize: Team Andres O'Neil & Lowe.
Twenty-seven sponsors supplied over $7,700 in funding which covered our event costs, allowing players registration fees and all day-of donations to be used as donations towards the program.
Overall, the 7th annual golf outing brought in over $7,200 in profit to be used to continue the work at Sarah's Friends. The word "successful" doesn't begin to describe the outcome of this event and the great impact it will have on assisting survivors of crime in Williams County. Thank you to everyone who participated and/or helped share our event. See you all next year on Saturday, August 3, 2024!
